Paul Ilott - Managing Director / Director of Research AFPC

Paul has more than 20 years investment experience - encompassing private client management as well as leading roles in both mutual fund research and investment communications.

Until March 2009, Paul led and managed the global investment communications strategy for Fidelity International's unfettered multi-manager business. Working intimately with the portfolio management team; he managed the infrastructure to support investment communications, helped to design the team's performance attribution system and, acted as a sounding board on the investment requirements of IFAs and their clients.

Before joining Fidelity, Paul was a member of the management team and the research committee at Bates Investment Services Ltd (now an IFA firm subsidiary of Honister Capital), where he led the company's investment communications strategy. Paul's in-depth, creative analysis of the mutual fund world led to his views being regularly sought by the trade and national personal finance press, and he became one of the most frequently quoted UK IFAs.

He was also instrumental in building a risk profiling tool and creating the asset allocation methodology behind 10 model portfolios designed to be used by the company's advisers.

A graduate of University of Leicester, Paul holds the Chartered Insurance Institute's Advanced Financial Planning Certificate - having passed papers on Investment Portfolio Management and Investment Planning. He was awarded a distinction in the Taxation & Trusts paper.
