These are our Terms and Conditions of Business. You accept these Terms and Conditions of Business when you register to use our website and Service.

Scopic Research reserves the right to change these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Any changes will be posted on our website. Your continued use of the Service following any changes in the Terms and Conditions will mean that you accept these changes.

Our Service

The terms ‘Our Service’ or ‘the Service’ used in these Terms and Conditions refers to the following:

  • Multi Asset DNA Reports.
  • The Portfolio Blending Tool.
  • The Multi Asset Sentiment Indicator.

Who is our Service for?

Our Service is solely for use by UK based investment professionals who are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). It is not available to, or suitable for use by, private individuals.

By accepting these Terms and Conditions you confirm that you are a UK based investment professional and that you / your employer is authorised and regulated by the FCA in the UK. You also confirm that you are authorised to use our website and Service by your employer and to agree to these Terms and Conditions on your employer’s behalf.

Registering to access our website

By registering to access our website you will be able to access the Service as described above.

To register, we ask you to provide us with information that includes, but isn’t limited to, your name, email address, and your company’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Reference Number. Please See our Privacy Policy.

Having completed your registration information you’ll be sent an email requesting that your email address be validated. This will activate your account for future use. The email will contain instructions on how to do this.

You will then be added to our contact database and will receive periodic email updates about our Service and the multi asset portfolios we cover.

You must keep your password confidential and immediately notify us if any unauthorised third party becomes aware of it, or if there’s any unauthorised use of your email address or any breach of security that you’re aware of. You agree that any person to whom your username or password is disclosed is authorised to act as your agent for the purposes of using our website. Please note that you’re entirely responsible if you don’t maintain the confidentiality of your password.

If there are any changes to your circumstances or to the information that you provide to us at the time you register for our Service, you must contact us at enquires@scopicresearch.co.uk to correct them. We cannot be held liable for your inability to access or use the Service, or for any errors or omissions in the Service as a result of your failure to provide us with complete and accurate details, or to ensure that these details are kept up to date.

Your use of our Services.

The following restrictions will apply to your use of our Services:

Fund Groups

You may use, print, and store multi-asset DNA reports and Portfolio Blending options and make copies of them available to your intermediary clients. However, you will expressly not make copies available of reports on multi-asset portfolios for which you are not the fund manager or sub-advisor, to any third party; including, but not limited to your intermediary clients and prospects.

When you redistribute multi asset DNA reports and the results from the Portfolio Blending Tool either in hard copy format, or by email, you must provide the recipient intermediary with the full, unaltered report, including trademarks and disclaimers. You must not draft or create any summaries or derivation of these materials.

Texts from multi asset DNA report haven’t been designed for and aren’t suitable for use with private individuals (your clients). They are to be used by investment professionals only.

Intermediaries

You may use, print, and store multi-asset DNA reports and the results from the Portfolio Blending Tool for your own research purposes. You may also use an individual multi asset portfolio’s DNA graphics and the results of the Portfolio Blending Tool with your clients.

Texts from multi asset DNA report haven’t been designed for and aren’t suitable for use with private individuals (your clients). They are to be used by investment professionals only.

We receive payment from fund groups that wish to enable intermediaries to download and print multi asset DNA reports on their company’s funds and for intermediaries to be able to use their company’s funds in the Portfolio Blending Tool. This helps us to provide our Service free of charge to intermediaries.

In the future, we reserve the right to charge intermediaries for certain services or impose charges for using aspects of our website that were previously free. Please note that you will always be clearly notified of any charges that might apply before any such services can be selected or before any charges are levied.

Currently, we don’t request or retain or have access to any details relating to your credit cards and/or debit cards. In the event we do charge for our Service in the future, we’ll ask you for these details.

Fund Groups and Intermediaries

By using the Service, you are agreeing not store or download all or any part of the information contained in the Service for it to be accessed by a third party or to enable any information contained in the Service to be held in a third-party service or application.

By using the Service, you agree not to reproduce, display, disseminate, sell, publish, or circulate information contained on this website without the express written consent of Scopic Research. You also agree not to collect information from our website and/or the Services we offer and incorporate them into your own database or products. The content and intellectual property of this website belongs solely to Scopic Research.

By using our Service, you understand that the suitability notes contained in our multi asset DNA reports comprise only general suggestions for intermediaries to consider alongside other factors when assessing client suitability. They are not in any way personalised and sole responsibility for client suitability rests with the intermediary.

General

The Internet is not a secure medium, and your privacy cannot be guaranteed. We can’t accept any responsibility for any loss of data, damage, or alteration of any kind, whether caused directly, indirectly, or consequentially, that you may incur by using our website or the Service on it.

We don’t, to the maximum extent permitted by law, accept any liability for any virus or similar destructive code that computer equipment and/or software used by you may suffer as a result of you accessing our website and/or communicating with us via the Internet. It is your responsibility to scan what you choose to download from our website and Service and to ensure that it is free from viruses, worms, Trojan horses, and other similarly destructive code.

Emails

Please note that emails and attachments sent to or from Scopic Research via our website will not be encrypted and may be liable to compromise. We don’t, to the extent permitted by law, accept any liability (whether in contract, negligence or otherwise) for any external compromise of security and/or confidentiality in relation to our website and transmissions sent by e-mail.

Privacy

We will receive and store certain types of information about your online activity when you visit our website and/or use the Service. For example, we use cookies and obtain certain types of information when your web browser accesses our website and when you login, such as your name and email address.

The information about your use of the website will be collected at the company name level only.

Please note that if you are an intermediary, Scopic Research may provide details about your activity when you use our Service to fund groups. This information will be provided at the company name level only. This currently enables us to provide our Service to intermediaries free of charge. 

The activity data we collect (at the company name level only) relates to the following:

  • Which multi asset DNA reports you download and print.
  • Which funds you use in the Portfolio Blending Tool and the percentage weights you award to them.

Third Parties

Although our website might offer links to third party websites this does not mean that we endorse them. We have no control over the content and/or management of third-party websites and you view and rely upon their contents at your own risk. Activating certain links on our website may cause you to leave our website, although we don’t guarantee that these links will function properly.

We accept no liability to you for the contents of and/or information held on any third-party website to which our website offers a link, and we have no liability to you for any loss or damage you might suffer if you enter into any contract as a result of viewing such a third-party website.

You must seek the prior and express permission of Scopic Research in order to install a link from any third-party website to our website.

Complaints

You should immediately inform us in writing of any dispute or complaint you may have.

We recognise the importance of providing a very high level of service. However, should there be an occasion when we don’t meet your expectations, we are equally committed to dealing with any query or complaint in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner.

Whenever possible, we will endeavour to resolve any problem as soon as practically possible after receiving your complaint. In the event that this isn’t possible we will email or write to you to let you know what we’re doing to help resolve the situation and to provide a timescale for a full response.

Our Intellectual Property

All elements of our website; including, website design, text, pictures, graphics (including our multi asset DNA graphics) and the selection and arrangement of them and, all software compilations, coding, underlying source code, software and all other materials on the website are protected by copyright law, database rights, and other intellectual property rights, and belong to Scopic Research Limited, unless otherwise acknowledged. All rights are reserved.

Your use of our website and the Service does not confer any rights of ownership.

Your use of our website is subject to English law. Any dispute and/or claim arising out of the use of our website, or the information held on it, is subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.

Accuracy

We take great care to provide accurate information on our website and via our Service, but we cannot guarantee accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or correct sequencing. This includes, but is not limited to, information originated by Scopic Research.

Our Service and publications are expressed as being published, or otherwise made available to you, at a specific date. We won’t necessarily review, correct, or amend our Service and any publication in the event that information or circumstance concerning the subject matter, however defined, arises after that date.

Scopic Research will endeavour to make sure that the website is accessible 24 hours a day.

However, we will not be liable for any loss or damage to you or to any third party arising in contract, tort, or otherwise if, for any reason, the website is modified, unavailable or suspended for any period of time. Scopic Research reserves the right to modify, suspend or discontinue access to all or part of the website, either temporarily or permanently, at any time and without notice.

Obligations

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to confer on any person any right to enforce any term of these Terms and Conditions which that person wouldn’t have had but for the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.

Except in the case of fraud, we don’t accept any liability for any loss or damage however defined and suffered by you as a result of your reliance on information we have provided which you knew or ought to have known was materially incorrect.

Any arrangement made between you and any third party named on our website will be at your sole risk and responsibility.

Regulations

Scopic Research is not regulated by the FCA and our Service does not in any way constitute investment, tax, legal, or any other advice. Neither Scopic Research nor its employees will be held liable by you (or by others) for any decisions made or actions taken that rely upon or make use of materials accessed or obtained through the Service.

Our Research Process

Our research process is proprietary, and we reserve the right to use such research and academic methodology as we think fit to provide our Service.
